How is upscaling different from resizing?

It sharpens and adds plausible detail, which helps soft, noisy or compressed photos a lot. Severely damaged images have limits.

Is my photo kept?

No. It is processed on our server over a secure connection and deleted as soon as the result is downloaded (or within 30 minutes if you leave).
